Azogues - Cañar - Ecuador

It is unique within the cities located in the Ecuadorian Andes, since it has used its supposed topographical disadvantage for the benefit of a correct urban functionality, taking advantage of the geographical conditions to obtain first-order landscape views; in fact, it is known as the city of viewpoints. In the Protector Forest Dudas Mazar you can see some spices of: cedar, cedrillo, alder, romerillo, cascarilla, pumamaqui, chuquiragua, orchids, zhiripe, cecropia, caimito, colca, tarqui, among other species.

Wildlife In Azogues

In the Forest Protector Doubts Mazar is the home of about 15 species of mammals being the most outstanding the tapir, the bear, the cat of pajonal, the puma and the deer. In the rivers there is the rainbow trout and the native species called preplica.

Typical meals in Azogues

Cascaritas de chancho.- This traditional dish of the sector is desired by locals and foreigners and consists of browning the animal's skin, slicing it with a knife and serving it with mote, salt and chili to taste.

Potatoes with guinea pig - can be savored in the parish of Charasol, in the canton of Azogues. It is prepared roasted on the grill and served with hard boiled egg and chili.

Hornado.- This traditional dish is served with peeled mote, llapingachos, and tomato, lettuce and onion salad.
Shampoos.- drink made from corn flour and mote.

Cheese.- along the Cañar tracks, you can taste cheeses of exquisite flavor. These are tasted accompanied with bread, sweet figs or honey.
Other meals.- Creole chicken broth, potatoes with leather, guatita, tamales, humitas, quimbolitos and tortillas, as well as juices, smoothies and morocho. Sweets as: quesadillas, arepas, bread of wind, sighs, chocolates, balls of sugar with vegetables, biscuits and alfajores.
