Ventanas - Los Ríos - Ecuador

It is a canton of the Province of Los Ríos, Ecuador. Its cantonal head is the city of Ventanas.
It is the fourth most populous canton in the province. Several products are produced here: banana, coffee, cocoa, rice, soy, passion fruit, loaf, and especially corn on which the livelihood of most of its population depends. Tourism in the city is incipient, and what exists specifically is ecotourism, due to the rivers and riverbanks that are attended by the native and neighboring population, especially at the time of Carnival.

It presents reliefs of erosive tectonic origin constituted by volcanic deposits and sediments of the upper Cretaceous of the Macuchi Formation, and instructed by bodies of rock of diorite type. While further west of the canton, there are areas of the Pichilingue formation formed by sand, silt and clays, whose origin is depositional, erosive or cumulative.

The territory of Cantón Ventanas has two types of climate: Mega rainy thermal in 63% of the territory corresponding to 33,589.26 hectares and is located in the southern part of the canton. Malecon: it is considered one of the main tourist attractions within the city, it is next to the Zapotal River, which gives a special and attractive touch to this site, it is a center of recreation and identity of the city.

Zapotal river beach: the river is located in the center of the city, in summer it is very popular for citizens to bathe here, since at this time a small beach of sand and stones is formed which allows the people access and have a space to rest and enjoy the river. He is also visited by housewives who go to the river to wash their clothes, as they used to do in previous decades.

San Jacinto Waterfalls: There are three waterfalls that are forming a staircase, have an approximate height of 25 meters and are located in the San Jacinto enclosure of the rural parish of Los Angeles, are 2 kilometers from the populated center of the enclosure and reach After an hour's walk on a weighted road.

Sibimbe River: It is another of the tourist attractions of the canton, it is located in the parish of Los Angeles, during the winter it is very abundant but during the summer it is more accessible, a small sandy and stone area is formed in which you can rest.

Oncebí River: The river is located in the rural parish of Chacarita, just like the rest of the rivers in this canton is visited mostly in summer time.
